Dear All,

Some of you may be aware that I have been researching the history of our parish over the past five years, with the aim of producing a fuller and more coherent account of St Aldhelm’s.

The book explores not only the story of our parish but also Malmesbury’s important role as the cradle of the English mission of the MSFS. It touches as well on the beginnings of the St Joseph’s Sisters of Annecy, whose journey, as you know, began in Devizes before returning to Malmesbury. There are many fascinating stories within its pages, even though no work can fully capture 170 years of history. You will also find many warm and fascinating details about St Joseph’s School: its founding by the parish and the Sisters of St Joseph, its early struggles, and the remarkable perseverance that allowed it to grow and flourish.

If you would like a copy, please let us know at malmesbury.staldhelm@cliftondiocese.com.
We kindly suggest a £10 donation to cover printing costs. If you would like it posted, please include your postal address and we will happily send one to you. You may use the parish donate page (
https://donate.mydona.com/st-aldhelms-malmesbury) or simply drop the donation through the presbytery letterbox. The book also makes a lovely Christmas gift for family and friends with connections to the parish.
