First Beginnings

Since the beginning of the parish in 1866 the parish has always supported primary education.  The picture to the right shows the pupils standing on the pavement of the Cross Hayes.  Their classrooms were in the building behind them which was the stables for the house.  Most of the arches have been removed but the right hand two can still be seen today in the walls of the presbytery.

The school moved to its present site in Holloway in 1932-3 and by 1935 pupil numbers had risen to 90.
